Method

As the field of hair extension services evolves, a number of techniques have been developed to lengthen & thicken hair. Essentially, each of these techniques can be placed into one of two groups: track extension or singles. Singles are the easiest and most common method of application. Unfortunately, although it is the easiest method, it is also the least dependable and most hazardous to the state of your natural hair. Adhesives or metal clamps are used to bond the hair extension to your natural hair. Bond loses its adhesive properties when mixed with oil, or when heat is directly applied to it. As a result, this method is not recommended for clients with oily scalps, or an affinity for shine products or other great hair products that may sacrifice the integrity of the adhesive. Because the use of heat-related tools and products is also not recommended with this method, you may spend a lot of time waiting for your hair to dry naturally, or be unable to straighten or crimp your hair from root to end. Metal clamps, as the term suggests, are not the most comfortable to sleep on. The stress that each clamp places on your natural hair can also be detrimental in the long run. Because singles application relies entirely on the amount of hair one has to begin with, the end result is often not as thick and luxurious as track application, as most stylists are unwilling or unable to spend the amount of time required (at least 5-10 hours) to produce professional results. In instances where single application is absolutely desired or required, Mohair offers a completely natural method that does not involve adhesives. Because this method is extremely time and energy extensive, it is not recommended for a full head of extensions.
